Designed by Maya Sheinberger for a woman in her late seventies, this compact apartment in Hod Hasharon uses precise space planning and custom storage to create a home that feels significantly more generous than its footprint. To overcome the apartment’s unusual triangular geometry, the wall separating the public and private areas was replaced by a multifunctional smoked-oak cabinet. Integrating the television, air-conditioning system and extensive storage, it also opens sightlines across the apartment and creates two separate passages into the private rooms. The compact L-shaped kitchen follows the same smoked-oak finish, reinforcing visual continuity while providing generous storage and work surfaces. Light terrazzo flooring forms a quiet backdrop for smoked oak, brass, warm grays, powder pink and richly layered textiles. Carefully scaled furniture and consistent materials bring softness to the highly functional planning, resulting in an elegant, comfortable home tailored to its owner and to the realities of compact apartment living.
